Love is the Light in the Darkness
This is a painting that expresses the depiction of the Five Languages of Love through human interaction. The figures seem to “glow” with their bright colors against the dark background, representing how love can be a light in dark times. Prints for this painting are available to purchase on the Shop page at Love 8″x10″ Print
The first couple represent the love language called “Words of Affirmation.” The man is kissing the lady’s hand, perhaps telling her how beautiful she is to him. He could also be revealing how much she means to his life and how important she is to him.
The second couple represent the love language called “Physical Touch”. The man is caressing the woman who carries his unborn child. The pregnancy is another testament to the physical love this couple has experienced with each other. Soon the couple will be demonstrating the physical touch of love with their child they created together by hugging, cradling, and smelling its newborn scent.
The third couple, man and child, represent the love language called “Receiving Gifts.” The man, who could be a father, grandpa, or someone else special in the girls life, is gifting a balloon to the little girl. Receiving a gift from someone lets us know that person was thinking about us at a time when we were not around them.
The fourth couple, two men, represent the love language called “Acts of Service.” One man is helping another man up from where he has fallen. This can have a symbolic meaning as well as a literal one. When one person helps another, in any way, it shows that they care for the other person. The fifth love language is called “Quality of Time.” This language does not have its own individual representation in this painting. Rather, it can be seen throughout the entire painting. Each of these people are spending quality time with the other person. Expressing their love and their care for the other person.
The following is a poem created to coincide with the painting:
Love is the Light in the Darkness.
Love is messy,
Love is ANGRY,
Love is Passionate,
Love is driven,
Love is Hopeful,
Love is caring.
Love is felt by a gentle caress.
Love is known by time spent together.
Love is given through a meaningful gift.
Love is shown in a helping hand.
Love is heard in words of encouragement and affirmations.
Love is a BIG, Beautiful Mess that Colors our Lives and
Creates the Relationships with those we share it with.
